Joel Klatt's 12 Team Playoff Bracket

Love this format
-Six best conference champs are top 6 seeds, top four with first round bye, remaining two with a home playoff game. Something that rewards the conference champions.
-Re-bracket the first round winners in to play the top 4 according to seed - 1 seed plays the lowest remaining seed from Rd 1 winners, etc ..

Breaking News Commitment Breakdown: Sevion Morrison picks KU

Quick Take: The Jayhawks were shopping the market hard for a running back and found one in Sevion Morrison.

This week he had an in-home visit with Kotelnicki, Leipold, and Wallace. I think the staff had narrowed their search down to two backs with Morrison and Hassan Hall. After the visit Morrison was ready to commit so there was no need waiting.

Morrison was a four-star running back out of Edison High in Oklahoma where he broke school records held by Spencer Tillman.

Kansas offered Morrison coming out of high school where had over 20 division one offers.

Breakdown: To give you an accurate picture of what Sevion Morrison can do for KU I reached to Sean Callahan who covered him at Nebraska.

Here is what he had to say:

“Sevion is a guy that has the ability, there is no question about that. He was honestly plagued with bad luck though at Nebraska. During the 2020 shortened season, he was only one of about two to three Husker players that tested positive for COVID under the Big Ten testing program.

“That forced him to be out for three weeks over an eight-game football season. Then in 2021, he missed a little bit of time with some minor injuries during the spring and just could not find his way into the rotation.

“Some of it was also on Nebraska's offensive line, which struggled this season and had issues, especially early in the season. Sevion has the ability though to make great cuts in the open field and I think he would be a very nice fit in the Big 12.”

What it means: By the end of the season there were more running backs injured than those eligible to play. It was obvious the staff was searching for a back and looked at several options in the portal.

Morrison just isn’t an add-to-the-roster back. He is someone who has the talent to take a lot of carries and play in the Big 12.

This gives Kotelnicki a legit option added in the mix at running back who has a high ceiling of potential.

Breaking News Commitment Breakdown: Kalon Gervin switches to KU

Quick Take: This is a massive pick-up for the Jayhawks and something that has been in the works over the last two weeks. There were a lot of moving parts in this one and a lot of people played a factor.

First off Chris Simpson knew him when he recruited him at Buffalo and knows a lot of people in the Detroit area. Rob Ianello knew the family and his God-father. Jordan Peterson came in late and was big in the recruiting process. Ironically Terrence Samuel the new receivers coach recruited him to Michigan State. But a lot of this started and got going before Samuel came in.

The word I got is he was impressed with his visit and bonding with Rich Miller and Cornell Wheeler who knew growing up.

One source told me this morning he informed Wisconsin of his decision and though they would out up a big fight to keep him. The early indication was there wouldn't be an announcement until next week. But Gervin felt good enough to go public today.

The Kansas staff has researched every transfer and they got extra in this one because Scott Aligo could provide a personal experience having worked at Michigan State.

Breakdown: The minute Gervin walks in the door at KU he will be the best corner on the roster. I don't see any way he isn't a starter. He's got very ball skills and can play physical.

The people I spoke to this week said he would have been the likely starter for Wisconsin.

Final Thoughts:
He played in 10 games as a freshman and started all six of Michigan State's games in a Covid shortened season in 2020. He was the highest rated player coming out of Michigan in the 2018 class and the 17th rated corner in the nation. He played in the Under Armour All-American game and was the Player of the Year in the state.

Gervin is going to be an immediate impact player and I think that is a sure bet. If the Kansas staff can pick up a few more players of his caliber the roster will change quickly.

Off Topic Wallet help, please

So - my husband constantly complains about his wallet (not sure why he doesn't just replace it - who knows) and I would like to get him a good functional one from Santa. My knowledge of wallets is very limited, although I do know that no one needs a George Costanza exploding wallet and a fanny-pack style just looks ridiculous. Help a Sister Jayhawk out with some wallet recs, please - Santa needs your help!
