Big 12 Football Trends

I wanted to get some other people's thoughts on how the Big 12 has been trending over time.

When I first started watching college football as a kid (I'm 26 for reference) the Big 12 was all about high octane offenses and trying to pour on the points. The rest of college football took what was the unique to the Big 12 and started implementing it themselves. I feel like the Big 12 has started to trend towards a B1G-esque run the ball, tough between the tackles kind of conference.

I'd like to get others thoughts about how things have been trending and where they think we're headed in the future.

Interesting DE enters the Portal

Redshirt freshmen NC State DE Terrell Dawkins enters the portal. He was hurt this year, but as a true freshman during the 2020 season, he had 36 total tackles, 9.5 TFLs and 5 sacks.

He’s got NFL size at 6’4” 245 lbs. There’s obviously a lot of potential here. Given our positional need and how involved we are in the portal, I would assume we are at least checking in on him. This is also the type of player that I would think some of the big boys would be really interested in, given his size. That could potentially push someone a little undersized, like Lonnie Phelps, down the list for some of those teams.

Looking to gain some insight on what level, those in love with KU football the most, would be willing to spend to directly impact Kansas players and program.

And in addition, what benefits are you looking for to be involved in NIL?

Was the B1G grabbing Rutgers and Maryland the worst decisions in modern conference realignment?

If not, which moves were worse?

The TV model that predicated that 100 year decision (regional/state based cable subscriptions) is basically over, too.

Shocking that they could have grabbed Colorado and us with KU at peak KU basically. Maybe Oklahoma and/or Texas as well.
