Question re: KU & the Fort Worth Tourney Site

Tech fan here. Our fanbase is desperate to play in Fort Worth the first weekend of the tournament. A lot of our fans would be able to attend.

I've been seeing some of the brackets and just listened to a Jerry Palm interview with the local Lubbock radio, and it seems unanimous that Kansas will be one of the top seeds in Fort Worth.

I didn't realize that there was a big link between Dallas-Forth Worth and KU. A quick google search indicates that Indy, Milwaukee, and FW are all roughly the same distance from KU's campus.

Can someone shed some light re: why KU would prefer going to FW over somewhere like Indy?

It seems like Tech could be somewhere between the 7th - 10th overall seed in the tournament, but still be behind KU and Baylor, which would mean we get shipped off to Milwaukee or San Diego or something.

Thanks!

Texas Primaries Today

The primaries in Texas are being held today under a legally disputed gerrymandered congressional map. The DOJ is disputing this. SCOTUS previously ruled that the Alabama map will have to stand as it is due to the proximity of the elections.

But in Texas, here are some races to watch:

TX-28: Progressive Jessica Cisneros is trying again to unseat DINO Henry Cuellar. He barely defeated Cisneros two years ago in that primary. This guy might be worse that Dan Lipinski who finally got successfully primaried by Marie Newman on her 2nd attempt. Cisneros voted with Trump 70% of the time, voted to defund women's health services, and took money from the NRA and Koch Brothers. In January the FBI raided his home and office. Right now PredictIt has Cisneros YES trading at 66c/share with Cuellar the long shot at 32c/share YES. It is also favoring her in the margin of victory bracket with >= 10% MoV trading the most at 24c.

TX-35: PI has Greg Casar in a blowout victory there.

Texas Attorney General: Latest poll has Rochelle Garza well ahead at 41%. Bernie endorsed Lee Merritt polled third at 15%. Bernie endorsed the other two above.

It will be interesting to see how those two congressional seats hold up in the general with the gerrymander. I can guarantee you that the DCCC will blame 0% of it on the gerrymander and 100% of it on the establishment candidates losing their primaries if the seats are lost in the fall. That's how it always is.

Conference tournament

There are a couple of reasons we want/need the #1 seed.

First, it puts Baylor and Texas Tech on the other side of the bracket.

Second, because of that we have a better chance to advance to the final which should strengthen our bid for a top seed in the Dance.

I kind of think Tech might win the whole thing, although Baylor and we have just as much as of chance - not to mention some upset team.

Post Spring Portal Additions

JK, or anyone that has some idea.

It sounds like we have a handful of class spots available for portal transfers, or maybe high school kids, to fill out this class.

Do we think the staff knows exactly what they are wanting to add, or are they waiting to see how kids perform in spring to figure out needs? Are we at a best player available situation with this roster?

It felt like we were going to shy away from WR and DT, but definitely target a transfer S and EDGE. Because these guys don't sign anything, is it safe to assume we may not hear anything until they show up on campus for summer school? I would not hate a LB, DE, and DB that can contribute early. A good OL with a couple years left would also be welcome.

News and Notes Some updates from Lance Leipold- March 1 post practice

Leipold excited to get spring started and be back out there again.

Can get fundamentals worked on

On the QB process Leipold said we all know what Daniels can do. Jalon had momentum when asked about the QB competition.

Daniels had some post season issues with injury but will be limited at least early on.

Wants to see a culture being built. Last month of season was a big shot in the arm and players understand daily expectations.

Have to execute better and stop the run.

Find out who will step up at WR and it may not be one guy.

Players have connected well with Gildersleeve and his staff. Players have embraced the S&C program and nutrition.

Leipold said they have known all along Daniels would be limited at least through first half of spring. Will be doctors decision on when he gets more in.

Likes chemistry of staff.

RB going to be a very competitive situation.

Locklin still recovering.

Gavin Potter isn't with the team and that's all Leipold would say.

Said Potter wasn't out there.

Said no big position changes.
