At the end of the day...

At this moment, this team is soft and they're mainly soft because the players playing the most minutes are soft.

This is a below average defensive team which is, frankly, becoming a trend with Kansas basketball.

Personally, I don't see Ochai, Braun and McCormack being players who lead any team to a Final Four.

I think they're good pieces. But we need others to step up and lead the way. Self has to allow that to happen.

Ah, January!

Every January, it always seems like teams that played well during non-con, seem to go through a struggling period and so it goes with our team. Duke loses, Iowa State loses, Texas loses Alabama loses and January is far from over. Let's face it, we have a weakness at the 5. That being said, McCormack showed us last year that he's a gamer. We don't have a rim blocker like we have had in the past. Our interior rebounding sucks when Braun and Wilson are doing the heavy lifting and get no help from our centers (at least not consistently). We'll eventually be ok as we always are. National championship caliber? Lots of questionable parts to be fixed but who knows? I always love posting here because I will be mercilessly attacked and that this is all BS. I've only been following college basketball for 55 years. Go figure.

Too many players vs not playing enough players

Some think we need to continue to play all our guys like we did today to at least give them a chance. I can see why you think that and there's an argument to be made. However, I'm not sure Zach and KJ were the right calls tonight. Dave was not as bad as he's been some games and there's also an argument to be made about not getting any kind of rhythm when you keep substituting players in and out. Regardless of where you stand I think at the end of the day without any effort on defense and your PG injured we weren't going to beat a team that played this hard anyway. Effort is the biggest thing Regardless of who plays and we just didn't have it. Very disappointing

ISU and Texas get destroyed

Just goes to show how hard it is to win on the road this year in the league. FWIW I don't think Texas and ISU are as good as their ranking but I think both teams are good and got handled today. I think we beat ISU and Texas both times this year.

I also think Baylor is the best team again and we're the only team that has much of a chance of winning the Big 12 other than them. It might require us to take matters into our own hands and beat them twice this year if we want to win the Big 12, if that's even possible??

We shouldn't give up hope on this team yet because we're just not even close to being our best yet but I'm afraid it's going to be very tough to beat out Baylor again this year. Like I said all offseason, and still firmly believe, I still think our best chance is with our backcourt playing up to their potential which we haven't seen yet...not even close..
