Captain Obvious. We don’t win..

If
1. Och does not come back and hit 10 points.
2. Braun doesn’t play the way we know he can.
3. Wilson and Braun don’t rebounded well and not get key rebounds. Throw Och and Mitch in there too.
4. We don’t hit free throw.

Free throws have been our Achilles heel lately but this game we hit them during a clutch game. Jalen and Braun hitting free throw to help put us over the top.

Off Topic Blair Kerkhoff

SIAP (I searched, but found nothing).

I enjoy Blair’s weekly Thursday segments with Soren Petro and that is one of the few podcasts I proactively listen to from their station.

He hasn’t been on for a few weeks, which I at first attributed to the disruption of the holidays, but started to realize it was something else over the past couple weeks, so I did some research and found out that, regrettably, Blair was diagnosed with leukemia before the holidays. I’m not even sure that is why he hasn’t been on with Soren, but it seems very likely that he is taking time off and focusing on his health.

Blair is one of the good guys in sports media - even though he works for an asshole - and I‘ve always appreciated his focus on college sports.

I’m sure there are others on here who also appreciate and respect him, so if you hadn’t heard, I thought I’d share. You might drop him a line with well-wishes.

Field Goal Club

I've decided to buy season tickets. As many here already know, I live in New Jersey. I'm probably in the lower third of income here (which makes me a millionaire), so I won't make it to many games due to the cost and time it takes to travel to Lawrence.

With that in mind, I don't want to invest in premium seats, but want to have access to the rest of the stadium. Maybe wander around or grab an empty seat. Not looking to steal great seats, just have a view and be able to take it all in as a fan on a beautiful Autumn Saturday.

How does the Field Goal Club work? I see part of it is green on the new seating plan. Do you need tickets at another location to get into that area? If not, can you leave and wander around the stadium?

Or should I just get Touchdown Club tickets and hang out with some you badasses who sit in recliners?

West Campus - No Football Stadium

I doubt this was ever much of an option but KU making plans public that would eliminate west campus as an option.

Bad-Faith Tactics to Sabotage Discussion

These are from a CIA manual from WWII on how people could combat the Axis by destroying productivity in the workplace. Check out some of these bad-faith tactics and think about how often we see them on here, in social media in general and in government activity at every level:
  • Make "speeches." Talk as frequently as possible and at great length. Illustrate your "points" by long anecdotes and accounts of personal experiences. (i.e., Gish Galloping)
  • When possible, refer all matters to committees, for "further study and consideration." Attempt to make the committee as large as possible — never less than five.
  • Bring up irrelevant issues as frequently as possible. (Whatabout whatabout)
  • Haggle over precise wordings of communications, minutes, resolutions. (known as the Hawker-2001 Maneuver)
  • Refer back to matters decided upon at the last meeting and attempt to re-open the question of the advisability of that decision.
  • Advocate "caution." Be "reasonable" and urge your fellow-conferees to be "reasonable" and avoid haste which might result in embarrassments or difficulties later on. (This is gospel for "moderate centrists")
  • Insist on doing everything through "channels." Never permit short-cuts to be taken in order to expedite decisions.
