Off Topic Fan Interference - World Series

I was not watching the game live when this happened so only learned about it after the game. It's hard to recall such a blatant form of fan interference in baseball. It probably won't happen because it did not impact the outcome of the play, but these idiots (the guy taking the ball out of Betts' glove and the other guy holding back Betts' arm) deserve to be ridiculed more than Steve Bartman and they didn't actually call fan interference on Bartman.

Why K-State expected to stuff KU for a safety-article

‘We repped that play about 80,000 times’

This quote feels like a big difference between our D and other programs. We go for the big play (esp secondary) but don't make the basic, mundane plays well.

K-State didn’t do anything fancy on the defensive stop. It simply repeated what defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman had previously instructed in practice against that formation.

“That’s part of what Coach Klanderman says, doing the doing routine plays at a high level,” Ilalio said. “I feel like that was just a routine play at a critical moment. I was able to deliver. So it was really nice.”

Very generous offer to leftists! Don't miss out! Read on!

Leftists,

I know you all have read my brilliant thread describing the fact that there ARE different kinds of morons. For example, if you voted for Obama, Hillary and Moron Joe then you're definitely a "Permanent Moron," BUT there is still hope for you! You CAN still be a "Former Moron" if you only stop doing stupid things!

IF you vote for a real leader in one week instead of the Cackling Idiot you will automatically become a FORMER MORON! Isn't that wonderful that your family may not be embarrassed by you any longer?

Well, me being the generous and giving person that I am I have decided to sweeten the pot for you leftists. I am offering each one of you who votes for Trump a free t-shirt that reads, "I AM NO LONGER A PERMANENT MORON! I VOTED FOR TRUMP!" Just send me your sizes, okay?
Erie, I already know your size--- XS in women's.

Hurry, supplies are limited so don't miss out! Remember, you do NOT have to continue being a Permanent Moron. It's your choice!

Commit Breakdown Commitment Breakdown: Jaylen Mason first commit in 2026 class

Quick Thoughts: Mason was the top QB prospect on the board for the coaching staff. After watching him throw in person and seeing what he can do live, the staff made him a priority. Quarterbacks coach Jim Zebrowski spent a lot of time recruiting Mason and Lance Leipold was also involved.

I go back to that summer camp and believe that was a pivotal moment. I saw Zebrowski working with him a lot over that two hour stretch in position drills. Mason told me that was a big thing for him to work with Zebrowski. He said in a short amount of time Zebrowski helped him with parts of his game and left camp with improvements.

Mason told me the staff treated him like family and that he was a "priority" which I could feel through the process. Another thing of note that proves this; the other top QB on their board Derek Garcia visited for the TCU game as well. The word I get is Garcia wanted to commit, but the staff said they needed a bit more time and were honest with him. They could have landed their top two QB on the board for one spot.

This really came down to KU and Iowa State, and in the summer I think it was a close race. But the KU staff was consistent with him and thorough and he committed a little earlier than I thought. Mason said it is a relief to have his decision made and he can go out and focus on playing football and not worry about recruiting.

Breakdown: When I saw Mason in camp and on film, I don't know exactly how I would classify him. He has some elements of his game that might classify him as a drop-back passer, but he can still move well. He looks more comfortable in the pocket to me and can throw any ball. He can put touch on some passes and throw others with velocity. He can drop down sidearm and make several throws.

In the Northwest offense they use a lot of motion and will zone read. Mason isn't afraid to keep the ball and run. They also use some designed runs with him especially when teams lighten the box pre-snap in the middle of the field. He will take a direct snap and run behind the lead blocker in the backfield.

What this means: The plan for now is to take one high school quarterback in the 2026 class and Mason is the guy. They could have had Garcia but wanted to be patient to see what Mason would decide. Zebrowski gets to sit back and relax because he has his QBs in the 2025 and 2026 class on board.

Future at Safety Position

Will be interesting to see how staff handles the safety position in the offseason. Obviously you lose your two starters in Grant and Burroughs.

Past couple of games, Taylor Davis has really impressed. Physical player that tackles well. At this point I think he would one of your starters for 2025.

Davis has seen the field more because the Dye brothers have been unavailable for parts of the season. Let’s start with Jalen. He showed flashes last year, but man he has not shown that improvement that I thought he would. Devin has been banged up and only played in four games (hoping the staff gets a medical redshirt). He did have some good production at Utah State so that is promising.

Lastly, Mason Ellis is another kid who I think could earn a starting spot next year. He looked liked our best special teamer last year, and looked fast and physical to start the year. Looks like he last played against WVU, so wonder if they could get a medical redshirt for him as well.

Jaden Nickens Update

On3's Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction this afternoon for 4-star senior WR Jaden Nickens to choose KU. Per his reports, Nickens would be committing for both football and hoops - similar to what former KU commit/current Buffalo Bill Keon Coleman did before ending up at Michigan State.

Nickens is a former OU commit but decommitted back in March.

Any legitimacy to this?

Kansas Trio on Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Watch List

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas trio of Hunter Dickinson, Dajuan Harris Jr. and AJ Storr have been named to the Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year Watch List, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday.

A total of 49 are listed on the Naismith Trophy Watch List and Kansas and Baylor are the only schools with three student-athletes on the list.

Dickinson, Harris and Storr are vying to become the third Kansas Jayhawk to win the Naismith Trophy joining Danny Manning (1988) and Frank Mason III (2017).

Dickinson is the Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year and on most preseason All-America teams. Following the 2023-24 season, the Alexandria, Virginia native was named a 2024 Consensus All-America Second Team, All-Big 12 First Team and the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year selection. Dickinson was the only player in the Big 12 to average a double-double (17.9 ppg, 10.9 rpg) last year.

A 2023-24 transfer from Michigan, Dickinson has 2,208 career points, 1,148 career rebounds and 196 career blocked shots heading into the 2024-25 season. He has 48 career double-doubles, including 17 at Kansas in 2023-24. Dickinson is the only active player in NCAA Division I to have 2,200 or more career points and 1,100 career rebounds.

A three-time All-Big 12 selection and three-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team honoree, Harris was the 2023 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. The Columbia, Missouri native has started each of the last three seasons, including the 2022 NCAA National Championship team. A three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection who graduated from KU in May 2023, Harris ranks fourth on the KU career assists list with 676 and sixth on career steals with 215 and he is one of just four all-time Jayhawks to have 600 assists and 200 steals (Aaron Miles, Kirk Hinrich, Darnell Valentine). Harris led the Big 12 in assist-to-turnover ratio in 2022 and 2023.

Storr transferred to Kansas from Wisconsin following the 2023-24 season. The Rockford, Illinois native played his freshman year at St. John’s in 2022-23. Last season, Storr was named to the 2024 All-Big Ten Second Team where he led Wisconsin with 16.8 points per game, a 43.4 field goal percentage and 81.2 free throw percentage. He was named to the 2024 Big Ten All-Tournament Team where he averaged 22.5 points in four games, including a career-high 30 points in a win against Northwestern in the quarterfinals.

Is there a world where Lubick would take a co-coordinator role and coach the WRs?

Receiver play has dropped off quite a bit this year.

Yet their on the field play is freaking amazing in comparison to Terrence Samuel's off the field contributions as a recruiter.

I don't know that Samuel is owed anything if KU were to walk away.

I believe Lubick makes around 300 to 350k or so in his current role. He has concurrently coached WRs while serving as OC in the past.

Seems too good to be true, and it probably is.

Lubick is great friends with his HC, who held a job open for him before it was known if he would be well enough to do it. I have no idea if Grimes would listen to/work well with Lubick. Also could rub Z the wrong way.

In any case, will be interesting to see if Lance sticks with Terrence moves on, whether Lubick is an option or not.

There will be changes to the staff. I predict two or three will be let go/reassigned and one will be poached. Hope LL has an idea of who he wants and the resources to make it happen.
