Look at KU's loses.

The loses came in games where they scored only in the 60's.

That should not happen to teams with (1) their amount of experience, (2) their amount of depth, and (3) the scoring talent that they have.

KU needs to create more shots on goal. But as it is their style allows the opponent to hang with KU; the opponent doesn't always have to "chase" KU.

The remedy? KU needs to play faster, nix running lots of clock in the half court, use depth, look to score with getting the ball in their best scorer's hands, wear down the opponent. KU's aim, therefore, should be to make the opponent have to score in the 80's to beat KU, because most teams can not do that.

In short, KU needs to score more points.

KU should not be held to scores in the 60's.

Not this team.

Creighton, Missouri and now West Virginia, have obviously seen something in KU's Offense / Defense .... What did they see ? and Self has not made the adjustment... Brought in 3 starting guard transfers to open up the floor, and so far only Mayo has delivered... Flory made a huge difference today, replacing KJ... Self is getting paid the big bucks to figure this out... Need either Storr... and / or Griffen to step up, and take big chunks of KJ minutes...or this year looks like last year.

Would have been great to hear his post game analysis.

1) A high volume of Corner 3's taken is often a sign of good offense. EVEN at the college level where the 3 point line is the same distance all the way around. The reason? Corner 3's are often the product of effective dribble penetration, giving shooters the chance to shoot 3's in rhythm, and less contested vs. other 3's. As such, they are made at a higher percentage, and when they miss, it's easier to predict there the ball will land for an offensive rebound.

We shot 3 corner 3's all game and probably shoot 2-3 a game from the corner. Don't expect a team to shoot above 35% from 3 when shooting 3's almost exclusively from the wing.

2) Contrary to popular opinion - not all shots in the paint are easy. Even for a 7 footer. A shot from 3-5 feet will vary in difficulty depending on the angle and the defense. No different in theory than putting in golf. So why is this important? 9-10 missed shots on/around the charge circle or bad angles - these aren't easy shots and little chance at an offensive rebound. So we can sit here and complain about the number of layups missed but nobody is going to focus on the fact that these aren't easy shots to make and anyone who's played basketball will tell you this.

3) 19/21 from the foul line - great right?! Not when your backcourt accounts for 17 of the 21 attempts. Frontcourt still isn't creating attrition, getting teams on the bench with fouls, and forcing teams to be less aggressive on both ends of the floor.

Basketball is not a difficult sport to understand - when your guards can get dribble penetration, it creates better shooting opportunities. When your guards get better shooting opportunities, it creates more spacing on offense. When there is more space to operate, it puts more pressure on the help defense to guard shooters, and in the process, creating easier opportunities for your post players to get uncontested layups/dunks at the rim, and/or draw contact.

Bill Self is our coach. It is his job to have the right players, in the right roles, do the things that provide the greatest chance of success for the team. And that is not taking place, as evidenced not just by the recent losses/performance, but HOW, and WHY we are losing these games i.e. the box score.

Goff and co. have some difficult decisions to make if things don't turn around ASAP b/c these are concepts Self not only understands but has implemented (and successfully) on prior teams.
