I have confirmed with someone with knowledge at Snow College who said the KU coaches had to back off Perese and Malanga. Both projected to be mid year players over the summer. However after their summer courses came in they were expected to be May grads.
Now there is talk one or both of them may need to go into the summer. It sounds like the deal was the KU coaches looked at them as mid year grads so they could be in Lawrence for spring football. But when it started to show they could even go past May they had to move on.
FYI it also sounds like the coaches handled it right by informing the Snow coaches along the way of the original plan and staying in touch.
