Can we take a moment and discuss Torry Locklin?
Locklin is a 3-star recruit (5.4 Rivals rating) out of Rockdale High School. As a quarterback, he leads the team to a 13-3 record winning the Texas 3A state championship in 2017.
He commits to head coach David Beaty and Kansas on February 4, 2018, after having offers from New Mexico State and Iowa State. Among others, his recruiting class includes Coe Harris, Pooka Williams, and Miles Kendrick.
Then he watches Kansas go 3-9 in the fall of 2018, and sees Beaty get fired in November.
He sticks with Kansas, and then Les Miles is hired as head coach.
In 2019, he is a true freshman and plays in only four of KU’s 12 games. He carries the ball just three times, gaining four total yards. The team goes 3-9. Locklin stays with the team.
