Off Topic KSU

Watching the game because I'm bored. Don't think I've ever seen this before. Two guys ended up the floor at half-court going for a loose ball. They get it straightened out, and KSU throws the ball in as the game restarts. Meanwhile the guy is still there at half-court sweeping up the wet spot. They never did notice him, I guess.

Topeka School to Disassociate With Klan Leader Except for Keeping His Name

The headline alone cracks me up. Talk about your empty gestures.

The Great Corporate Rehire Screwup

People want to work, but employers waited too long to rehire, are too cheap to adjust pay for inflation, won't allow more flexibility and executives overall are clueless. This results in a stalemate which promotes the myth of people being happy not working.

Izzo’s technical

So I watched the replay of the game and I made a mental note to watch the calls after Izzo’s tech.

On MSU’s offensive end of the floor the refs called a foul on every challenged shot after the tech except Dave’s big block of the dunk attempt and one other challenged shot.

I’ve always hated techs on KU coaches, but often times it probably more than pays for itself with the calls changing (especially on that coaches end of the floor). Some thought it helps players play harder, I think it makes the refs “make up” for the call, especially when it is a Hall of Fame type coach.

It would be interesting to see an analysis done on calls before and after techs.

Had A Conversation

About a kid who had a recruiting visit recently. To say they were thoroughly unimpressed was an understatement.

Right now Kansas just doesn't have enough people to help with these things who are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the program apparently.

Parent said no one knew who their kid was until they told someone they had a PWO to another local school offer and the atmosphere was like a funeral.

They said they understood that the program was down but every other visit had been so upbeat and informational. Several D1 visits.

This was drab and boring and they said for sure no one seemed interested in their kid but weirdly no one seemed too interested in KU football either.

Just passing along what I hear.

SELF/BRAUN QUOTES

KANSAS HEAD COACH BILL SELF

On the win tonight: “I thought the game kinda went as what we thought. I didn’t think we played bad in the first half when we were only up eight, made some bad plays down the stretch in the first half and our defense wasn’t great by any stretch but it was good enough. We shot the ball well and only turned it over six times in the second half against a team that pressures that much, that’s pretty efficient.”

On how the team played: “Yeah Och was great, I mean he’s really playing at a high level, CB had a much better game tonight especially in the second half, David his numbers aren’t going to jump off the charts because it’s only six points but you know that’s a hard game for him to play because he had to guard a guard the whole time so we went with KJ some in the first half but I thought David played extremely well and his attitude was just great. Dajuan and Remy were probably the two I thought that labored the most tonight. I didn’t think they had as good floor games as what they had on Tuesday but still did some good things and of course, Bobby and Jo were solid off the bench.

On Jalen Coleman-Land: “Yeah I asked our staff kind of what happened and they said well he didn’t run in transition so he threw it over his head so he didn’t hustle. Then he hustled his butt off and saved the play and made the three if I’m not mistaken in the corner, they may have counted it a two I can’t remember. But he really made three threes because one of them I think was just a toe on the line so it’s good to see him shoot the ball like that and get some confidence.”

On their 49th consecutive home opener win: “You know I really don’t know where you came up with that stat but that’s kind of a strange stat. Most home openers, I hate to say this, are sometimes not your toughest competition so but it’s always good to start off with a good win at home.”
