AAC Exit Sooner/No Divisions

UCF, Houston & Cincinnati are hoping to have their exit plans & conversations wrapped up by this spring says AAC commish Mike Aresco. 2023 season sounds likely. While Aresco insists the move sooner than later is much more favorable 2022 season seem logically impossible with all the variables between the different conferences.

Interesting side note though is their desire to get rid of their conference divisions. While they would have to petition the NCAA to do so because of the 12-team conference rule requiring divisions it makes an interesting argument for not having them with the potential playoff expansion conversations.

The B1G is also in favor of eliminating divisions it sounds like too. If the B1G goes no divisions do others follow? Does the Big12 have a no divisions plan if the playoff expands?

SELF WAS ASKED ABOUT KU'S 3 MCDONALD'S ALL-AMERICANS (QUOTE)

"Well, I thought it was great. I thought it was well deserved. When you're in college and you play college basketball, the goal each year is the Final Four because that's what is publicized: Road to the Final Four. This is a Final Four team, all that. That's how it's sold. When you're a high school player, everything is sold on, can you make the McDonald's team? I mean, that's the end result that you want to try to get to. So, to have three of our four recruits all make the game is exciting. And certainly, I'm happy for them. And I'm also hoping that they think that, "Even though I'm proud and glad I made it, it doesn't mean much." Because once you get to college, what happened in your previous high school career isn't going to help you compete at the next level. And what you do here, once you get to the pros, you've got to do it all over again. So, I'm happy because they excelled at the highest in their high school level, even though the season's not over, but understand also, and they'll understand, the work starts now. But I think it's a great, great accomplishment for those kids that have worked so hard. And those families, over the last many years, to put themself in that position."

Staff visiting high schools

I’ve been following KU Coaches on Twitter for the past 5 years. With the exception of Emmet Jones, I have never seen high schools recognize our staff visits as much as now. Furthermore, I can’t remember our Head Coach hitting the road as much as Leipold has the past couple of weeks. I wonder if having Ianello as GM allows Leipold to do this. I’m also impressed by the footprint the staff has laid out. I’ve seen our coaches anywhere from the KC metro area, Texas, Nebraska, Alabama, etc. I don’t know if any of this means anything. Just thought it was interesting to see high school coaches recognizing staff visits when I hadn’t seen it much before.
