The sky has already fallen! It fell about 40% Mangino's last year, and about 30% more during each of Gill's and Weis's tenures. While those percentages could be debated, there is no debate that when Beatty took the program over, the sky was absolutely, positively, 100 % fallen on KU Football. What you are witnessing now is not a falling sky , but just the beginning of a long, slow, arduous, and painful process of returning the sky to its rightful position in the KU Football cosmos. That process was not pretty today, and will not likely be pretty next week or the following two weeks. In fact, no preliminary judgement can be made, given the task, of the process until three years have passed and $250 million dollars have been spent - three complete recruiting cycles and $250 million of facility upgrades just to have the appearance of a P5 football program.
I only bring this up because of so many that seem shocked that we aren't significantly more competitive this year week by week. We simply aren't going to get much better than this during the current year, and the odds of a win this year, barring a miracle , are very very small. Three years, $250 million. Beatty needs three years, Zenger needs $250 million. Beatty needs time, Zenger needs to hear the expectations of the most ardent fans, and receive the donations of the most able. Three years, $250 million. Until then, come, support, cheer, and enjoy as able- but just relax!
