Had a chance to speak with Jacey Zembal who helps with the portal rankings. He liked what he saw from Dawson on film.

Last year Zembal was part of the team who ranked Zeke Mayo a 5-star portal recruit.

"The first thing that sticks out watching Dawson is how smooth a deep-range shooter he is," Zembal said. "At 6-4, he has nice size for a shooting guard. Athletically, he is more along the lines of Zeke Mayo compared to other Kansas wings."

It was obvious after looking at stats and percentages he had the green light to shoot.

"He averaged 7.3 three-point attempts per game, so he had the green light," he said. "He averaged 36.3 percent on the three-pointers, but my guess with teammates setting him up, that number will rise."

Taking a look at the numbers Zembal didn't find how he fared against higher level competition.

"The one caveat, he didn't play one high-major opponent this season, and he went 12 of 44 from the field in four games against the top three teams in the Atlantic 10.," Zembal said. "That is the difference from the higher rated transfers."
