Admittedly I am no expert on the actual rulebook. My question is seeing offensive players make a move to fade back while holding their pivot foot and when the defender
moves up to take the space they relinquished the offensive player then makes a sharp move forward creating contact with the defender.
It clearly is contact created by the offensive player, yet the foul is always called on the defender.
Seems to me when there is contact the one initiating the contact should be the violator.
My thought is space on the floor is available to either player if it is open.
Is the basis for the call that the offensive player still holds that territory since he has not moved his pivot foot?
This happened to Jwill at least once last night.
