I ventured over to a Ohio message board to see what they had to say about the game and I was slightly startled by the negativity from their fanbase especially when it comes to their secondary and their inexplicable penalties.
Almost to a man they all hate the cover 4. Their secondary is very young and inexperienced and apply little to no pressure on the outside. Texas State wasn't supposed to be an offensive juggernaut. The Bobcats were consistently gashed 8 - 12 yards per play. Their leading tackler was a safety and which we know with Fish, that's not always a good thing. They hope they can apply enough pressure from their defensive line to force our quarterbacks into poor choices. Needless to say, they're very concerned about their defense, especiallygoing on the road.
The fan base is also getting annoyed with the opposing coaches and fan bases assumingjust because Frank Solich is their head coach they are playing smart penalty-free football. Going back to last season this hasn't been the case and it was one of their biggest bugaboos in week 1. I believe they said they had 13 penalties week one at home. Kansas really needs to capitalize if the Bobcats continue to make poor decisions.
Basically put none of their fans on the board I ventured to felt all that comfortable about winning in Lawrence. Their struggles in thesecondary and the scheme in which they utilize scares the crap out of their fan base.
