I thought this was interesting on where KU's student body comes from. I put the percentage change over the past 2 years (Fall '12 to Fall '14).

Total enrollment: 27,983 (+.2%)
Kansas 17,603 (-3.4% or 620 students)
Missouri 1948 (+5.6%)
Illinois 944 (+9.5%)
Texas 682 (+4.1%)
California 533 (+28.7%)
Colorado 461 (+15.5%)
Minnesota 403 (+1%)
Nebraska 377 (+17.1%)
Iowa 225 (+2.7%)
Oklahoma 221 (+5.7%)
Just some quick takeaways. KU still has a good presence in Big 10 states and a really strong presence out of Illinois and Minnesota. I was surprised at the numbers from Oklahoma and Texas - thought we would be better represented out of those two states.
Overall, I thought it was great to see that our student recruitment was up in each of our top 10 states - all except Kansas. It's not completely surprising considering K-State is running around telling anyone that'll listen that they're the most popular in-state tuition for in-state students. KU obviously has good appeal for out of state students, but has lost ground inside the state. Is that just football related? Or is it more than that? KU's obviously been really strong in hoops and was in the title game in 2012. Anyway, interesting to look at.
