This weekend Denzell Evans visited Lawrence. He is transferring from Arkansas and after he graduates will have two seasons to play.

His brother Maxwell, who is being recruited to play basketball, tweeted his brother is expected to land in Lawrence.

There are a couple twists in his recruiting. First is he wants a chance to carry the ball and has been in a crowded backfield with two backs who were taken in the NFL draft. Next year the Razorbacks are expected to have another talented backfield.

The other is current Arkansas RB coach Reggie Mitchell came from KU. Evans originally committed to SMU at the end of May. But it appears after a visit to Lawrence he has changed course.

After doing some research Evans would have to graduate to be eligible which he plans to do at the end of the summer. Until then he is open to take visits and enroll at any school of his choice. He is not bound to any certain school until he arrives on campus.

One person who covers Arkansas told me he is a solid back and would help the KU backfield. He carried the ball a lot in spring football because a couple Razorback running backs were injured.

He is from Bellaire High in Texas and was offered by Houston, Michigan State, Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas State, and several others.

After making a call today to someone familiar with the SMU program they still believed Evans was going there.

Nobody from the KU program has confirmed Evans has committed to them. But after seeing the latest tweets from his family and friends it looks clear that's what his intentions are.
