I admittedly spend much more time on the football side, and have been more football focused as a fan. But, I am a fan of all things KU, basketball, baseball, volleyball, etc., but football gets most of my time and money when it comes to KU athletics investment.
As a part timer over here on the Allen Fieldhouse Forum this is what I have learned the last half of the season once football was over and I frequented the site.
1. Dickinson is soft, lazy, slow, and doesn't play defense, bringing him in was a mistake, despite him being a double double machine and getting accolades from media and coaches.
2. Harris is a "JUCO" PG, can't shoot, and consistently fails in clutch situations. He also won a NC and puts up decent stats from time to time.
3. Adams is short, has even shorter arms, is a poor rebounder, has no shot outside 10 feet, but is an elite defender, good leader, and great human being.
4. Storr was a mistake in the portal, a bust, huge let down, even though he miraculously looked pretty close to the player we hoped he would be the last couple games of the year.
5. Griffin was expected to be a defensive stopper and perimeter gunner, he showed flashes, but never really proved to be the player we expected consistently, especially down the stretch late in the season.
6. Coit can shoot, is a high energy competitor, but he is short and struggles on defense, ceiling is probably bench role player on a top 10 team, maybe more on a lesser team.
7. Clemence never did much of anything other than holding down a scholarship spot.
8. Passmore, seemed like a nice development recruit, but looked completely lost anytime he got on the court this season. Likely would not be ready in year two.
9. Bidunga, high level recruit, a little raw coming in, showed flashes of athleticism, good player with potential to take a big jump between year one and year two. However, a bit short as a five, a little foul prone, and lacks a jump shot from long or mid range. Shot blocker, rebounder, dunker.
10. Mayo, good combo guard, could be a bit streaky, local kid, proud to be a Jayhawk, had some great games, had a couple stinkers, wish he had another year of eligibility.
With the exception of Bidunga and Mayo, most of these guys got more negative comments than positive comments. Supposedly these guys sucked, were not "KU level" players and we needed to do better in recruiting. We simply were not going to win like a KU team should win with these guys was the general slantalyst read.
The people telling me all of these guys suck, now appear to be the same people telling be the world is coming to an end because all of these guys are leaving. What am I missing?
