A common theme amongst the flurry of players that committed yesterday - these are players that I’ve started referring to as “50/50” guys - players that are projects, will need time to develop, and as a result, have a lower floor/higher bust potential. But concurrently, have the physical upside to develop into much better players than their recruiting rankings.

Under past regimes (Gill - Miles) our 50/50 guys were 25/75 guys - no plan, poor infrastructure, etc. Almost every commit from a “get them in the program and find a position” recruit was a wasted scholarship. On the other hand, under Leipold a 50/50 kid becomes a 60/40 or even a 70/30 guy - the development, infrastructure, coaching is so good they’re “manufacturing” legit P5 players and in the process, building the necessary depth to win 8-9 games.

Something to contemplate - good programs can take more gambles on 50/50 kids bc they will flip the odds in their favor and develop them into a similar caliber of player that larger schools are landing in higher ranked recruiting classes if this makes sense.
