What high school game did you watch this weekend? Any talent out there?
I watched Denton Guyer @ Allen, Texas as Allen reopened their $60M stadium.
It was supposed to be a matchup of blue chip QB's. Allen transfer QB Seth Green who's committed to Oregon vs Denton Guyer's Shawn Robinson who's committed to TCU. Problem is that a few weeks ago Allen coach Tom Westerberg announced that the backup QB from last season Mitchell Jonke was announced as the starting QB for the first game.
Shawn Robinson is big and fast but he didn't have much surrounding cast and he was playing a great defens who was in his face all night long. Always rolling out but nobody open and then he'd get sacked or throw it away.
Jonke was poised and ran the offense well. He took what the defense gave him. On his runs he was patient letting the blocks set up in front of him instead of plowing ahead.
Green is faster than Jonke but didn't move the chains as easily. He played better later but early on he settled for a long incomplete bomb on 3rd down (under threw his WR) instead of just trying for the 1st down yardage.
