Had the opportunity to take one of the grandsons to a camp put on by Darrell Stucky at Bishop Ward High School in KCK on Saturday. While it was very hot, the camp was very well run and Darrell Stucky is a stud. While some professional players will put their name on something like this for the publicity, Darrell was very involved and went out of his way to talk to kids and parents (and grandparents) who were there. There were several former players who assisted (OO, Max O, Raymond Brown, Brandon McAnderson, Eric Tyler, to name a few) and they were all very good. I was wearing a KU shirt and Brown made a point to talk to me. There were close to 400 kids at the camp and while the vast majority were middle school and elementary school, there were a few high school players. I spent my time watching my grandson (who will be in 6th grade) so I didn't spend any time watchig the older kids. One note, if anyone on here has kids in the Piper District, you will love one of your new assistant coaches. I didn't catch his first name but his last name is Richmond. He played at Sumner High School, then went to Ft. Scott CC and then on to Mo Western (in St. Joseph). He worked witht the quarterbacks and was great. Obviously dedicated to working with young people and teaching. I think he is a star.
