I only bring this up considering this is McCollum's first year at Drake after being very highly successful at Northwest Missouri State. Was an assistant coach at Emporia State years ago as well.
People have wondered for years why he didn't go to the D-1 ranks earlier as a head coach, but supposedly word has always been he was very selective (even turning down Missouri).
He is definitely a legit name to keep an eye on down the road for when Coach Self retires. Will be interested to see if he moves up the ranks here in the coming years before that time comes about? Very similar to Coach Self moving up the ladder. Drake is a similar situation to Oral Roberts/Tulsa.
