In announcing his commitment to Kansas on Twitter, Kugel posted a number of pictures, including two pictures of him wearing t-shirts with the Jayhawk logo on the front as a young boy. On Sunday afternoon, Kugel talked to JayhawkSlant.com about those t-shirts and his thoughts on Kansas as a young boy.
“I mean, I grew up living in Kansas for a couple of years,” he said. “I grew up living in Overland Park, Kansas. That was one of a couple of Kansas shirts that I had. Just growing up, I was always a Kansas fan. I remember watching guys like Thomas Robinson, Devonte Graham, and just guys like that.
“I would go to school every day wearing basketball shorts and basketball shoes,” he added.
