My wife and I are thinking of going to Germany, Austria, Switzerland or thereabouts for our 20 anniversary next year in mid-December. I've traveled a lot domestically, but never internationally (Canada and Mexico don't count) so I'm not sure if going with a travel agent would be smarter than piecing a trip together myself.
I like skiing, but my wife doesn't so we won't spend much (if any) time skiing. So, probably more taking in the scenic and cultural aspects of the environment. Certainly spending time checking out the local Christmas markets and such which are supposed to be excellent places for food, drink, and gifts.
Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
