Every action will produce a reaction. As the coaches scour the transfer portal for players to fill the rosters, we need to remember that there can be a price that's many times overlooked. The NCAA landscape is peppered with ex-KU players that left the program because they didn't 'feel the love' any longer, and are having success where they landed. Every player has strengths and weaknesses. When we look to see how a player's strength may contribute to the program's success, we better look at the weaknesses too (can they aggressively rebound, will they be afraid to bloody their knees diving for loose balls, will they stand in the corner waiting for somebody to pass them the ball for an uncontested 3, can they drive and either score or get fouled and can they make those shots, are they unselfish in passing the ball to a teammate with a better shot?). In the Big 12, those weaknesses will be exposed. The big problem is that the incoming transfer just conveyed to the patient roster player that he is going to likely to ride the bench and not get the developmental time he needs to up his game to a higher level. Wishing and hoping isn't a good platform to build on. There's a price to be paid for everything. Better make sure the decisions look at all sides. I am not negative on transfers but there can be unforeseen consequences.
