Anybody with some thoughts on what they are hoping happens against Baylor? Not necessarily the game itself, but some specific players or general things they hope to see?

During the season, one of the funner things for me is diving into the numbers behind other teams and looking at strengths and weaknesses of their roster. I enjoy hearing what others say and it kind of paints a picture of what we are up against. That being said, it hasn't been fun this week. Short version, Baylor is one of the best passing and rushing teams in college football and has some freak athletes on defense. Given where we are now, it's a pretty scary situation going into this game.

With that in mind, I watched Baylor's first game of the year and they were struggling for a bit against SMU, who isn't that great of a team. Looking over the scores and SMU is the only team so far this year that has kept Baylor from scoring in every single quarter. When that game started, it was pretty crazy - Baylor had scored two TDs and SMU had scored one in the first two minutes of the game. It felt like it was going to be a really high scoring game, but then came the second quarter and Baylor struggled. So what led them to struggling that quarter?

It was a simple game of cat and mouse. SMU had three drives in the second quarter, all of them 8 plays or longer. Baylor had two drives in the quarter, with both of them being 3 play drives. As much as I would love to say "all we have to do is hold Baylor to a couple of 3 and outs or 3 plays and a turnover," I think focusing on what SMU did on offense here is key. For KU to keep the game respectable, sustained drives are a must. Three and outs are going to happen, but we have to manufacture some drives. I think we can score some points on Baylor, which will help our psych more than anything. Baylor is going to score points and they are going to do it very quickly, so I think the team needs short memories this week and focus on each drive instead of what happened the previous drive.
