I am probably going to jinx this, but it doesn't feel like most years with only a month left until NSD. I could be off, but to me it feels like most of our commits are solid and we know who the staff is targeting for the remaining spots. Things can change within a second when it comes to recruiting, but I this is much needed for this year.
That's not to say things won't be crazy this next month for recruiting elsewhere. I noticed OkSU has flipped three or so commits recently while also losing some guys. I saw that KSU offered a JUCO DT committed to Boise St last night (which also reminded me how lucky we are that Davis and Holani are signed - I guarantee teams would be after them right now if they weren't mid-year guys). I think several schools are in for a battle keeping some of their commits heading into this stretch.
That's also not to say there won't be interest for some of our commits. We have seen Kyle Mayberry pick up some recent offers from the likes of Virginia Tech. Some other commits as well. But usually around this time we have a feel for which guys are still looking around, like we did with Kevin Thomas and Arico Evans last year. Again things can change quickly, but it just seems like our current commits are pretty solid.
The final thing is that it doesn't mean things won't be exciting from hear until NSD. The Amani Bledsoe watch will be very exciting until he commits. Same goes for a couple of other guys we are still pursuing. It just feels, and again I am sure I am jinxing this, that things are under control heading into NSD. That's a pretty comforting feeling this late in the recruiting game coming off of an 0 - 12 season...
