Here is what Section 4 of the 14th Amendment says - “The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.” Notice it says authorized by law - the goofy flap over raising the debt limit is to pay for expenses already authorized by Congress. Biden should invoke this clause to pay these debts - the SCOTUS is dominated by Justices who say the Constitution should be taken literally as written. Should be no problem withstanding a legal challenge. In fact any Republican who voted for these expenses should not have legal standing to challenge paying for them. Biden could forever stop the clownish debt limit fight that now occurs every 18 months. The fight over spending needs to occur in consideration of the annual federal budget. Just sayin.
