I know the Baylor offense gets a lot of mention, and understandably so, but their defense so far has been pretty solid.
Their depth chart lists them as running a 3-3-5 defense, but it is a little bit different than ours. It is more like 3 down lineman, 2 LBs and then 2 NBs. They aren't all that big up front - have a 320 lbs true freshman NT, but their ends are 260 lbs. Two of their LBs are in the 220 - 230 lbs range, but the 3rd LB (who is really a NB) is around 195 lbs. They have a lot of speed on defense and some very good players in that DB group.
That has allowed them to be very solid against the pass. They are top 5 in the nation in passing completion percentage allowed, only allowing 166 passing yards per game (13th in the nation). They don't pick off a lot of passes, but have made some INTs. They have been very good forcing fumbles, forcing 7 so far this year (top 20 in the nation). They are OK getting pressure with 2.0 sacks per game, but that puts them around middle of the pack.
Now ISU did have some success against them, so maybe the defense is beginning to decline some from their start. ISU's QQ completed 17 of 23 passes for 261 yards against them. If we can be as efficient in the pass game against Baylor as ISU was, then we can put up some points on them...but we will have to play smarter against Baylor as their defense is pretty disciplined
