about what goes on within the program and athletic department, please explain to me Zengers accomplishments to date.
I'm being dead serious. I was on the Gill and Weis train longer than most because all I saw were the games. It wasn't until I saw us at Duke last year that I knew how fvcked up we were. A lot of that has to do with me living halfway across the country so I don't read every article about Zenger, or hear every rumor, etc.
From the outside it looks like:
- he's fired Gill, Weis, and Bonnie
- he hired Weis (firable offense by itself IMO)
- he's retained Bechard, Self, Price, and the women's soccer coach (pretty much no brainers)
- renewed the contract with Adidas
- media contracts?
What I don't see is our football in better shape than it was 5 years ago. I don't see drawings or plans for facilities upgrades. I don't see KU Athletics in a more secure spot than when he took over.
Also, he hired Weis, said himself he was going on a one man hunt, and then called him a power surge while he limped his way up to the podium.
I don't give him much credit for KUBB because that was a powerhouse long before he arrived, and as long as Self doesn't leave while he's still here, enabling Z to go on a one man search, it'll be a powerhouse long after he's gone. I don't give him credit for those facilities because Self can pretty much make a phone call and have whatever he needs.
He didn't hire any of our best coaches...Bechard, Self, or Francis.
So I'm sincerely asking because I'm sure there are things out there that I'm just not smart enough to recognize he's done. But what has he done, that he can put on paper, that should make fans like me believe he's the right man for the job besides coach with Snyder 20 years ago?
