The ideal safety would be a smart, physical hitter with speed and size both at FS and SS.
But that is not a player we can get today. We got a slow 5 10 175 pounder with limited skill.
My idea is unlike KSU with Jon McGraw whom I believe was a walk on. There are a lot of QBs in Kansas in the 6-1 to 6-3 range with size of 180 to 210....average speed. They will not by proto typical QBs per say and they may actually go both ways on defense at smaller schools. To me, these are the types of safeties we need who are smart (read angles and plays) and can lay some wood. Could be good leaders as well. These are kids who are probably QBs at schools all over the state. Sign 1 or 2 a year and get another 2or 3 to walk-on.
