The cyberattacks are becoming pretty common and affecting our economy as well as becoming a real national threat. I hear Biden will discuss it with Putin in a couple weeks, but I'm curious how far you think he should go?

I haven't read enough to know how much the hackers are connected to the Russian government. I suspect they are at least implicitly blessed by Putin. If the US can show the connection in any way, I suspect Biden will levy new sanctions against Russia. If the connection is more tenuous, I think the US will verbally pressure Russia while going after the hackers' bank accounts and them personally.

What's tough is the nature of the cyber-terrorism and Russia's ability and willingness to allow these types of actors. Compounding that is they aren't directly attacking the US government, but instead private companies who are too numerous for the govt. to effectively protect.

This has been discussed for years as the new frontier, so hopefully the US has something to fight back with, but I suspect it's simply going to be companies have to step up their defenses while the US government goes on the attack.

This has become as big of a threat as home grown terrorism, daily mass shootings and global warming.

There is no way Putin is doing anything to stop this. He probably recruited these terrorists. It's time to induce sanctions against Russia. Either find and arrest these folks, or suffer the consequences.

Cyber attacks are bigger than anything you’ve mentioned. You don’t realize how many things are vulnerable and can ruin our way of life. Infrastructure, cars, planes, stop lights, etc everything now is connected and if anything is connected it can be hacked

I'm fully aware. You didn't even mention trains. You don't seem to realize what a threat to democracy homegrown terrorism is and what a threat to my children's future global warming is

If I had to rank the options he gave I'd go:

1. Climate Change/environmental destruction
2. Cyber Warfare/hacking
3. Mass shootings
4. Terrorism

I was being diplomatic on #4. I see white nationalism and it's affiliations with what was once legitimate government/politicians as a bigger threat than mass shootings

I would agree with that assessment. I suppose it also depends on what you consider important. For a lot of people - many on this board - I suspect the white supremacist/GQP overthrow of the US government/Democracy would actually be a bonus, not a threat.

I agree. That is part of the danger. It has become mainstream and acceptable, because of the propagandists. Those same people label me as a communist

I don't think that is true of anyone on this board. Now I obviously don't know everyone's mind, but I don't recall anyone coming right out and saying we'd be better off with WS leadership. I consider that more rhetoric than reality.

To be fair, the ones I'm thinking of don't really post anymore. But there is a certain raiders fan who occasionally does and he probably goes along with that ideology.

I have most of the people I saw that would believe that on ignore so I don't know if they're still posting. There have been more than a few through the years that would fit, and I think a few people here would love to see many of the current crop of GOPers in power again. Some may claim to not like their WS stances, but when that drives so much of the GOPers policies how do you separate the two?

Pretty easily...because it doesn't drive remotely as much as you think.

I would respectfully disagree. In the past, maybe not. But this current crop of GOPers have made racism or racially disparate policies a fairly solid plank in their platform.

If you're referring to the Trumpsters, you could be right. I guess I don't consider the Trumpsters to be equivalent to the GOP but as more of a subgroup within the party.

Fair enough, though given polling and the direction of the elected officials, I think true conservative old-school GOPers are more the sub-group, and the Trumpsters are the driving, dominant force of the party.

The Trumpsters are definitely the loudest, most vocal of the subgroups...I'll give you that.
The pro-Trump wing just removed an extremely conservative anti-Trump member from power. What makes you think the pro-Trump wing isn't the dominant force in both numbers and power?

They also, at this moment, control the levers of Republican power. I think it's important to recognize it's not just that the GOP has a loud group of Trumpers, but that those Trumpers are also controlling how the party behaves.

You just described Trump.
and Barry! It's amazing how much space Trump occupies in so many peoples head. A no news Friday, so FB issues a 2 year ban for the news outlets to slobber over so they don't have to question Fauci or talk about how the jobs number was light for a second month in a row.
