Royals traded Mike Minor for Amir Garrett, probably best know for trying to single-handedly fight the entire Pirates team a few years ago. He'll bring some fire to the clubhouse we haven't seen in a while. Per Ken Rosenthal, the Royals save about $8.5 million on the deal and we improve our bullpen, as well--seems like an across the board win for the good guys.
Perhaps more interestingly, Rosenthal says the Royals are also in on trying to trade for Frankie Montas, an excellent pitcher with the A's who is under team control for the next two seasons. Probably would cost the Royals a few pretty good prospects, but if it was something like an Erick Pena/Peyton Wilson/Luca Tresh type of deal, I could get see that being enough for them and me being happy with it for the Royals.
Mostly just glad to see them do something.
