I see it more like, sometimes things break your way, sometimes they don’t. The Royals played a solid game, not scared, sending Aaron back to the bench was an example of that, rather than giving up a hit.
Analytics are not the same in every situation and the STL situation had nothing to do with pitch count. STL it was a 3-0 lead in the 7th and Cameron would have been facing R,R,R. At that point your bullpen needs to get the job done. It’s really that simple. Vs the Yankees it was the 5th inning and it was L,R,L (LH are hitting .108/.154/.216, RH are hitting .188/.257/.559) and the RH is Judge who is just as likely to hit a bomb off anyone you put on the mound. If you bring in a reliever to start the inning they have to face all 3 batters. The Royals only have 2 LH in the pen. Lynch splits vs LH are not as good as Cameron and far worse vs RH, Zerpa is far worse vs LH and RH than either Lynch or Cameron. We can put to rest that Q uses any sort of analytics with Cameron.
Facing the Cardinals 4,5,6 for the 3rd time after 0 Runs on 82 pitches.
"You're done."
Facing the Yankees 2,3,4 for the 3rd time after 5 Runs on 74 pitches
"Go get em, kid."
There needs to be a fight.Changes need to be made. At the minimum, hitting coaches need to go. This team lacks any fire in the belly also.
As I suspected. Damn offense.Lorenzen vs LHP Jacob Lopez today. Lopez was a 26th rd pick in 2018 by the SF Giants out of College of the Canyons, which I think is juco out in California. He was acquired in an offseason trade with the TB Rays. He's been up and down from AAA Las Vegas this year. Lopez is 0-4, 6.00 ERA. In his last three vs BAL, MIN & TOR he's 0-2, 10 IP, 15 hits, 12 ER, 4 BB and 14 SO. He did 4 innings with no ER in his last outing against Baltimore. .293 AVG, .371 BABIP, .891 OPS and 4.5 BB/9, 11.63 K/9. Averaging 20.5 pitches per inning!
No one has seen him at the Major league level for the Royals.
A's are .222 (6-27) vs Lorenzen. Seth Brown is 0-11. Brent Rooker is 3-7, 1.000 OPS. Bleday is 1-5.
On paper this should be winnable for the Royals. However, they don't seem to do very well against high walk, high strikeout guys this year so I anticipate they will make this guy look like Cy Young today.
Definitely need to shake things up!Sell everyone and fire Q
Q just has to go. Not sure what happened in the players only meeting, but those things to me generally mean a loss of confidence in leadership. His 'management' choices/interference cost us way more than they help imo.Quatraro pulls Cameron after 85 pitches and wastes this offensive explosion of two runs.
0-6 on home stand. 1-8 in last nine games. Out homered by A’s 6-0 in three games. If KC goes on to lose today the Q watch should be on. No need to wait for the sweep by CWS.
Well, when you put it that way, I guess it’s not such a mystery. To sum it all up, Q loves to pull Cy Young lite after 82 and 84 pitches of shutout baseball, pinch run and take the bat out of Vinnys hands with Fermin, whom he will pinch run for and lose his DH in a tie game, bunt his statistically best hitter in a tie game with runners on base and no outs while letting Loftin swing away down one in the 9th. All within 10 days and leave everyone scratching their heads why they can't win games.
