Our AD is smart and has us headed in the right direction. What that RFQ is about is not just the Stadium but packaging the stadium with other components that will allow KU to maximize state funding for the project. Similar to what Sporting KC did (got a $200million stadium for free), he is allowing professionals (instead of KU employees putting together stadium ideas) to brainstorm and submit ideas/bids to a retail/convention/football/destination project that will allow him to go after Star Bonds, TIF Funding, CID, etc... to help offset the cost of the stadium. A stadium itself is hard to get funded, but by adding all the other components, it allows these other funding options to come into play. Brilliant move.
