I believe Beaty is going to take the QB competition to another level. I think he is going to take it beyond practice and into an actual game.

I look for Cozart to likely start against Rutgers, with a very short leash, although it won't surprise me at all if Ford starts either. I think there will likely be a very intense evaluation over the next two weeks with a whole bunch of intermediate throws and long routes. I also think Willis has a decent chance to win the job as well.

Anyway let's assume that Cozart starts against Rutgers, if he does not move the team in the first two series he will be pulled. Ford will likely be inserted and given two series and if he does not deliver either Cozart will be in again, or Willis will be in. The guy that can move the team is going to play. We may very well have revolving QB's all season long until we can find a guy that move the team. That person is going to have to be able to throw intermediate and long routes. We can't waste a guy like Kent Taylor. We have NOTHING to lose and we have to find a QB that can move the team. I have a pretty strong feeling that it is likely going to be Ford. I really liked his arm strength and accuracy last night. He was popping the 10 yard out routes right on the money with a lot of zip. Plus I believe Ford can run the football a little bit as well. But the only way we are truly going to find out about Ford and Willis is in live game situation. Cozart has had his chance. I sense Beaty will likely give him one more chance but that will pressure and Cozart may not be able to handle that pressure.

I don't believe this staff is going to mess around. This is all about the team and getting a little bit better each and every day. In our situation players who do not deliver are going to be on the pine. Big Larry just found that out.

Damn it, losing Michael was sooooo costly. We would have won the first game if he was the starter and we would have hit those two passes over the middle last night that would have kept us in the game.

It was great being in Lawrence and seeing the great crowd. The fans so badly want to support this team. If we can get a little bit better every day, I think they will still show up this year. By the way, mark Larry Hughes down for a scholarship. What a great steal/find by the staff. This staff will find talent for us. Keep the faith, better days lie ahead.
