Chalmers brought something to my attention and I apologize for being a little over the top, so to speak.
I was coached by a tough, caring gentleman in high school. By trade he was a math teacher. Get him on the bench and he was relentless. I guess he didn't realize the ripples he created or the life lessons that would stick.
I mentioned this in another thread and it's a tue story. My sophomore year (we won state) we beat a team by 12 points. A team we should have hung a 100 on. We played a little too loose and soft. After the game coach challenged us all to a boxing match. It was weird but, the point was made. To this day I kid him about that but, it kept a magical run alive. He was hard and tough yet cared. Made a big impact on all of us.
Class of 2010 KBCA Hall of Fame. Yep, we were tough. Thanks coach!
