First of all, Mushburger kept saying Traylor was our best option to cover Niang last night. Ummmm no, Perry was that guy.
Guarding Niang is no easy task, always have to be ready for that quick shot release or prepare for a quick drive to the basket. Watching Perry D up Niang last night was really refreshing to watch. He moved his feet really well last night. When Jamari and Cliff both went out with some foul trouble, Perry stepped up and made Niang work for almost every point. Perry didn't have a single foul last night, and to do that against a guy that likes to make a beeline to the basket (when he isn't shooting 3's) is really impressive. Yes, Niang got his, will generally always get his, but Perry has really improved his D. His lateral movement as well as playing straight up have improved immensely. HCBS has to be pleased.
Well done Perry, no fouls, no TO's.
