WVU sophomore to be (and reigning NCAA champ) Ginny Thrasher wins the first gold medal of the 2016 Olympics in 10m air rifle. Qualified 6th and upset two Chinese women to win the gold. Love to see the Americans pull off upsets. First gold medal in the event for US women since 2000. She wins $25,000 gold medal bonus apparently from USOC and at least a $30,000 bonus from USA Shooting. How do those bonuses impact her status with the NCAA? I have a feeling they don't or at least I hope they don't! Great work from the Big 12!
