I had a chance to meet with Leipold one-on-one and I can say after that, and hearing a lot of the things that I have, I firmly believe Travis Goff got this one right.
Leipold has the perfect blend of calm, strict, detail, and intelligence for the KU job. As we all know this place isn't easy to win at. One thing I like is I believe he knows exactly what KU is, where it can be, and the work it takes to get there.
And it goes beyond just football knowledge. I think he has a personality that you can gravitate to and that players will like. Now, saying that, I also think there is a side that can be full of fire and very demanding.
I get the feel he likes the staff a lot and has a lot of trust in the coaches that have been around him for a while.
Sometimes it is hard to put in words why you think someone will succeed. Part of it with Leipold is his past and he has done is before. He already has an idea what to expect. The other part is his demeanor and command I believe has over his program.
