Kansas' Jalen Wilson picked up Big 12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week while his teammate Gradey Dick and Baylor's Keyonte George shared Newcomer of the Week honors. Wilson collected his third career award while Dick was recognized for the second time this season.

In the 87-55 win against Texas Southern, Wilson recorded his fifth 20-point effort of the season with 22 points to go along with five rebounds and six assists, which were one off his season high. In the 91-65 win versus Seton Hall in the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle, Wilson recorded his Big 12-leading fifth double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. The junior forward's 21 career double-doubles are tied for 11th on the KU career list. He has scored 197 points through his first nine games of the season, which is the second most through nine games in the Bill Self era, trailing only Ochai Agbaji's 202 set last season. Wilson leads the Big 12 and is seventh nationally in points per game at 21.9. His five double-doubles lead the league and are second nationally.

Dick tied his season high with six rebounds and set his personal best with three steals while scoring 15 points in Kansas' win over Texas Southern. He posted 15 points, including 6-for-6 from the free throw line, tied his season high with three assists and had two steals in the victory versus Seton Hall in the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle. The rookie guard has six steals in his last three games. His 15.3 ppg leads the Big 12 freshman class and his 24 three-point made field goals rank second in the league and 30th nationally.

George averaged 15 points in two contests, highlighted by 18 points to help lift Baylor over No. 14 Gonzaga in the inaugural Peacock Classic. It marked the fourth time this season he has led the Bears in scoring, and his six rebounds were just one off his career high (7). The freshman guard burst out of the gate with 14 first-half points against the 'Zags, one point off his career-high for points in a half, to give the Bears a five-point lead at the break. In the second half, he made some clutch buckets as he twice put Baylor back in front with a layup and later a pair of free throws. In BU's first game of the week, George had 12 points against Marquette, marking the sixth time in seven games he scored in double figures.
