Gives up 637 yards to Sam Houston State (FCS) including 317 yards on the ground. Tech got their tails saved by three SHSU turnovers on Tech's side of the field. SHSU threw a lot of looks at them but we will see how the Gibbs hire as DC transpires. Inherited a bad defense but big thing is can he get quality defensive recruits to Tech who does not have a reputation for great defenses. Tech had a couple starters missing for the game but that's a lot of yards. Third highest in SHSU history.
