Perfect example of what KU must do to establish themselves with high school kids...find the ones others are overlooking. He is also why I don't feel a school like KU should be near full in August.

His high school produced two 5 star RBs in the last 5 years, Greg Bryant and Sony Michael, so the school has seen a lot of elite RBs come through and I think often the kids that are good but not elite are assessed in relation to those guys by recruiters rather than in a more appropriate vacuum.

His junior season, the offense was a heavy QB run offense. His QB is at Ohio State now, rushed for 1000 yards and passed for ~2000 yards. The next leading rusher, Kyshaun Bryan is a kid that was a sophomore and has transferred this summer to St Thomas Aquinas (Tony Sands' high school fyi). #3 was a 5-5 190# kid that I believe signed small school.

As a senior, the offense was still highly QB run heavy. His QB, class of 2017 was the second leading rusher (committed to go to Harvard). However, he had better numbers than that kid transferring to Aquinas but still split most carries with Bryan so he didn't have 1000 yards rushing or anything to generate a ton of buzz.

Obviously Tony Sands had a role in this kid coming to KU, but kids like him are all over the country. Whether it is LB, OL, DB, RB, etc...kids like Herbert exist all over the country and KU will need to find these kids.
