The sexy pick is going to be people going with UCF. Just look at the betting line and the big swing.
Like I said on the podcast Jason Bean is capable of beating UCF. But there are going to be people who change their pick and those that will come out with UCF as the predicted winner.
And UCF can win the game. I said couple weeks UCF scared me after watching them show more team speed than KSU when they met.
I keep looking back to when KU couldn't get first downs against TCU last year with Daniels and then he got hurt. Bean comes in and looks like Johnny Unitas throwing for 250 yards.
The next week Bean goes to Norman and KU had 430 yards offense against OU and 42 points. He helped the team get bowl eligible against OSU. The following game he led the offense to 525 yards of offense at Texas Tech. The same players are all back on offense for KU.
Bean is capable. Kotelnicki has had a week to get something schemed up with him running the show. You still have Neal and Hishaw. You still have a UCF defense that has struggled against the run and has some players banged up, up front.
The UCF offense is explosive. I watched their guys run past KSU players in the open field. But they are also inconsistent. UCF will get their yards. But UCF has QB question marks as well. If Plumlee can go will be able to run like the normally does?
If there is ever a game needs a fast start it is this one. A start like the Illinois game. Not a start like Nevada or BYU. They need to put doubt in the UCF player's minds. UCF is still thinking about that Baylor game. They are looking at an 0-4 start if they don't beat KU. If KU can get off to a fast start I think it will test UCF's will.
I sense a lot of doom and gloom. KU can still win this game. They need to play well but this is a winnable game and I am still going with them no matter who is QB. I'm trusting the staff to have a good plan and something in place to have the players ready. Feed Neal and Hishaw, and then feed Neal and Hishaw some more. And then start looking for some play-action when UCF cheats up because they are going to be aggressive to try and stop KU's run game.
This is a huge game for Craig Young. I think he's been a little quiet. The UCF RB's are going to put stress on the KU LB's. But Young can play this style of game. They are going to have to wrap up and play sound football on defense. I think they can get more stops than UCF can.
