But a lot of KU fans sometimes really aren't happy unless they're unhappy. A solid, unspectacular win last night leads to literally no discussion of our game on the board--not a single thread started beyond the game thread by anyone but Shay. Everyone's favorite punching bags go for 10-6-5 and 10-5-5 lines in a win, no one says anything. Flory plays 20 minutes, no one says "that's more like it." No discussion of Rylan being in a mini-slump, Zeke appearing disengaged at times and missing more shots, Hunter finding his range and finishing with dunks more routinely--it's just quiet after a win. Fans no longer seem to enjoy the wins, and sometimes it feels like that's because they interfere with talking about the losses.

I don't think it is isolated to KU fans and it may be human nature after sustained success to no longer get as much joy from that success as you used to, and it becomes more a relief when you have success and the bad things hurt more and are harder to bounce back from. I've heard coaches say that is why they quit coaching (Tony Bennett talked about that when he retired). But it is interesting to watch it on a larger scale for a fanbase, not just an individual.
