A key to the game for me is who dictates the pre snap game.
Kstate basically tries to do what KU does pre snap… but with their defense.
I can’t tell you how many times Kstate changed up its look last second, or timed their blitz perfectly with the snap of the football. I don’t care how good your athletes are. If a decent athlete is carrying his momentum forward right at the snap of the ball, versus a superior athlete who is starting from a standstill, that is an advantage. Kstate defense maximizes their talent. But if KU can get athlete on athlete on fair footing and not lose schematically, there’s nothing to fear.
Kstate plays pretty aggressively, and I think LJ Arnold could be the answer.
It’ll be tough with the crowd, but Ku needs to vary its cadences to keep kstate from timing it perfectly. Daniels and LJ can give Kstate fits in the area just beyond the linebackers. Think 8-17 yards down field
Kstate also looks susceptible to QB scramble game and JD has looked fantastic lately
