favorite to land one of the spots.
University of Texas gave them heavy public support the last few days and now Texas Tech has also jumped on the bandwagon. I think UT was always seen as the biggest barrier for them getting in.
So I know a lot of people don't want Houston in. They are near the top of my list if we can't get another Power 5 school, which everyone knows the Big 12 can't right now.
They play in the sixth largest TV market in U.S. and their football team has great momentum. That can't be over-looked. I get it, they don't own the Houston TV market, however, their following has great momentum right now and will likely build if they get in the Big 12. From a recruiting impact, I think it has little impact on KU given the large numbers of players in Texas. Also don't lose sight of that UT has always been very vocal on not want to over travel their athletes. Houston is easy to get to for all of the Big 12 teams. I think Houston is quickly moving to the front of the pack. A lot of smoke for them and if UT gets behind them watch out. I know most of OU friends from work also want Houston in so I don't think there is any opposition from OU.
Also in the Dallas Morning News today it said BYU has said they would be willing to go football only in the Big 12, but BYU said they are extremely interested in being a full member for all sports.
1) Houston
2) Cincinatti
3) BYU
4) ?????
Boy Colorado State would make sense geographically if we add BYU.
Now my top three might not be flagship universities but are all good sports schools and they are not chopped liver on the academic front, and I bet all of them will come in as junior members for a while.
Like it or not folks, it is all about money.
