Has WSU "earned" the right to a regularly scheduled game with KU?
For those of you who do not live in Wichita or the south central Kansas area you probably can't totally relate to this issue. And I don't want to hear from those on the board that just hate Wichita. That is not what this is about.
WSU may be from a mid-major conference but they have become a Top 20 program for the past several years and as long as GM is there, they will probably remain that way.
They have shown they are relevant in the national picture.
KU/we embarrassed ourselves in Omaha. I went through the last loss to WSU in the NCAA and it is no fun.
Is not playing them going to make them less relevant? IMO not playing them now helps WSU more and hurts us.
MU "earned" the right for us to not play them by leaving the conference and the manner in which they did it. Playing WSU and not playing MU is even more of put down to MU!
This is not about hating Marshall or thinking that Wichita is a two-bit cow town. Like it or not Wichita is the largest city in Kansas and there are a lot of KU grads and fans in the south central area.
How is KU playing WSU any different than Kentucky playing Louisville?
Has that series hurt Kentucky?
3 year after the loss in New Orleans, the series began and KU won 8 out of the next 9. After that WSU had enough and elected not to renew the series. History repeated itself with an NCAA loss in 2015. KU can do it's part to repeat history by going on a 8 out of 9 run again.
The last thing I want to see is for the Kansas legislature to get involved in this. KU can make a statement by taking action to get the series started again by telling WSU, "you've earned it"
