Off Topic Grilling help

Alright guys and gals Im getting ready to enter the grill game. Dont know what route to go. It will be mostly for steaks but Im not opposed to doing ribs and roasts etc and of course the occasional bird or burger. Whats best bang for my buck? ($1000-1200 range) Whats most multi functional? Ive liked electric smokers when Ive cooked with them in the past and have used more standard charcoal/electric rigs. I like the idea of ceramic, not sure if thats still in or not.

Any ideas out there? Im a great cook but itll most likely be used once a week is all. Just want some opinions for a regular work horse that is good for small gatherings
