What are your thoughts on these two conferences?
I really think the Big 12 this year had a down year for the top tier teams due to severe injury problems. Baylor's losses at QB clearly affected their run to the title. If they had kept Linwood and Russell, I think they win the league and represent better than OU. That is not to say Clemson is not a very solid team, I just think the conference would have been represented better with Baylor.
As for the Big 10, Booger McFarland (SEC boy) says they suck. Last night we saw the league winner who plays the exact same type of game as 'Bama get embarrassed. Now, I believe if Meyer had been able to manage his players better this year, tOSU would have been there instead and it would have been a better game.
Overall, I think the Big 10 fails in the area of speed. Yes they have some fast guys and tOSU has a different looking roster than the rest, but those big strong slow guys cannot compete with the speed of the other leagues.
The ACC has one really decent team this year. Big 12 has 4 very solid teams, but 2 of them were too banged up to be there. PAC 12 has a very strong league that just did not have a real premium team to compete on the Final Four level this year, but will be knocking at the door each year.
I really think as it stands right now the only Big 10 team that can compete on the Final Four level is tOSU.
The rest of the leagues will have at least two teams of Final Four caliber each year and sometimes 3 or 4. The Big 10, for all its financial advantages just seems to suffer when it comes to getting a sufficient number of exceptional athletes. Either that or the coaching style is ingrained to a point it gets in the way of the players.
Would love to hear from some of the real solid FB guys on here.
